Caffe Bar Andar

Authentic Bosnian coffee in a former shoemaker's workshop, in the heart of Baščaršija.

Our story

Where shoes were once made, coffee is now poured

At Sarači 22, in the very heart of Baščaršija, you'll find Caffe Bar Andar. The space where people gather today was once a shoemaker's workshop – a place of skilled hands, craft and family tradition.

That past has not been forgotten. On the contrary, we kept a part of its spirit and wove it into every corner of the café. Shoes, details and small reminders of the former craft tell the story of a time when things were made here by hand and with great love.

Andar is much more than a café to us. It is part of our family story, just like Andar's People. That's why you don't come here only for coffee – you come to a place with character, history and people who are happy to see you.

Drop in for a Bosnian coffee, a dibek, a piece of baklava or simply a moment of rest in the heart of old Sarajevo.

We'd be happy to have you as part of our story.

With love,
Maida

What we serve

☕

Bosnian dibek coffee

For those who love coffee with character and tradition. Freshly prepared from coarsely ground beans, rich and full-bodied, served in a copper džezva with a fildžan and a sugar cube. Enjoy it slowly, just as it has always been done in Sarajevo.

🍯

Baklava & sweets

Because a good coffee always calls for something sweet. Treat yourself to a piece of Sarajevo baklava, kadaif or hurmašica – traditional sweets that keep the taste and aroma of our kitchen. They're best when shared in good company.

🍹

Homemade juices

For those moments when you need a little refreshment. Our homemade juices bring simple, familiar flavours and are perfect after a stroll along the cobblestones of Baščaršija. Rest, refresh and enjoy the moment.

How to drink Bosnian coffee

  1. Let the coffee settleAfter pouring it from the džezva into the fildžan, wait a moment for the grounds to settle at the bottom.
  2. Prepare the sugar cubeTake a sugar cube and hold it between your fingers. It is part of the little ritual that follows.
  3. Dip and sipBriefly dip the sugar cube in the coffee, then put it in your mouth. Take a sip and let the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the sugar meet on your palate. That unique bittersweet taste is one of the small pleasures of Bosnian tradition.
  4. Sweeten the conversation with rahat lokumTake a piece of rahat lokum and enjoy the blend of flavours.
  5. Take your timeBosnian coffee is not just a drink, but a reason for conversation, company and a pause. So sit down, enjoy and let time slow down a little.
